Eric started with Blue Ridge in 1992. He loves being a part of the group because of his love to be able to minister to people through song all over the country.
Besides being the bass guitar player, his other many jobs consist of running the tracks onstage, help with the set up and tear down of the stage equipment, taking his turn driving the group's coach, and keeping up the service on the coach. His choice of instrument is an Ernie Ball Bongo 5 String Bass, which Ernie Ball built for him. Eric also uses Ernie Ball Super Slinky Strings which he says are awesome. The guitar and strings hold their tune and sound great. Eric

Eric’s favorite music styles are Southern Gospel, some contemporary gospel, and a little jazz. Just a couple of his favorite groups are the Perrys, Gold City, Kingdom Heirs, and the Kingsmen.
How did he get involved with the Blue Ridge you ask?
Eric says, “I was playing the bass guitar for Gem City. The guys from BR came by to see me and ask if I would be interested in playing for them. I wanted to travel more than what Gem City was doing so I went out a weekend with BR to see how it would be and I have been there ever since.”
Eric also gets to travel and play bass guitar with the Perrys when his schedule allows. He has had the opportunity to share the same stage with various Southern Gospel groups such as The Kingsmen, Brian Free and Assurance, Down East Boys, Hoppers, Jeff and Sherri Easter and the late Anthony Burger.
Eric’s hobbies include bass fishing on his boat, hunting of all sorts, playing golf, and a little soft ball.
Eric was saved at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in June of 1980 were he has been an active member ever since. He says he has the privilege to be a youth leader for the teens at his church with their music program.
“I thank God for the talents he has given me.” Eric stated.
Eric is married and has twins, a son, Joey and a daughter, Toni.
Road stories from Eric go on and on and on... but we don’t have enough time, so here is one for you
Eric believes it was in February of 1998. The guys were getting ready to go to Florida and Eric had taken the batteries out of the bus to charge them so they would be strong enough to crank the bus engine. Dwight had just got off work from the bank to meet Eric out where they park the bus. It was so cold it was blowing blue snow and freezing.
The two of them started putting the batteries, which weigh about 100 lbs each, back into the rail of the battery compartment of the bus. It is a very tight fit to get the batteries into that compartment and the battery got stuck. So Dwight started pulling on the handle of the battery as hard as he could to get the battery loose so they could try to reseat it in the compartment correctly. All the sudden the handle of the battery broke and he hit himself right square in mouth and nose. Eric literally fell on the ground from laughing so hard. |
